Beginner's guide

Your first climbing session: everything you need to know

Never climbed before? Perfect, that's how everyone starts. Here's everything you need to enjoy your first session with peace of mind.

No experience needed

No prerequisites: no level or special fitness required. Our routes and boulders are graded from easiest to hardest, so everyone finds their playground from the very first visit.

Bouldering or rope climbing to start?

Bouldering is ideal for beginners: you climb without a rope, at low height, above thick crash mats. All you need is a pair of shoes.

Rope climbing requires knowing how to belay your partner. If you can't belay yet, you can climb on our auto-belays, which belay for you.

Gear

Wear comfortable sportswear. On site, climbing shoes rent for €4 and harnesses for €4. Don't forget a water bottle!

Basic safety rules

  • Never walk or stand under a climber.
  • When bouldering, climb back down and fall softly onto the mat.
  • On ropes, check each other's knot, harness and belay device before every climb.
  • On auto-belays, always check the carabiner is locked on your harness belay loop.
  • Follow the gym rules and ask the team if in doubt.
